Si is the Vietnamese word for water dragon.

The Si is a mythical sea creature with a dragon’s head, a long body, and a rounded tail. According to legend, the Si can make it rain by striking the water with its tail. For this reason, a Si is often placed on the roofs of pagodas and historical buildings in Vietnam to protect them from fires.
