Rua
Rua is the vietnamese wort for turtle.The turtle has a very special place in Vietnamese culture. It stands for wisdom and longevity and appears in many famous legends. The Hoan Kiem Lake or Lake of the Risen Sword in the center of Hanoi is linked to a myth about King Le Loi who received a sword from a magical turtle in the lake with which he could defeat his enemies.
The rectangular blade shape is typical of this Asian paring knife. The tip of the knife is slightly rounded to ensure easy chopping and slicing of vegetables. The knife is ideal for preparing carrots, cucumbers, cabbage and other vegetables.
Each of our knives is handcrafted in a traditional blacksmith village in northern Vietnam. The color and shape of the knives may vary slightly from the illustration.

Hac
The heron stands for stability and harmony. Figures of herons standing on turtles can often be seen in pagodas and temples. These sculptures symbolize the harmony between heaven and earth. The heron can also be found on the famous Dong Son drums.
This small paring knife is ideal for peeling and cutting fruit and vegetables, for garnishing and for other food preparation tasks. Despite the small size, harder foods such as potatoes can easily be processed with the knife.
